I recently visited Must Be Thai in San Jose and had a wonderful dining experience with my family. We ordered a variety of dishes, and overall, we were very satisfied with our meal! Chicken Pad Thai (5/5): The pad thai was absolutely delicious! The noodles were perfectly moist, which is something I always look for, as I hate when they dry out. The flavor was spot on, making it one of the best pad thais I've had in a while. Papaya Salad (3/5): The papaya salad wasn't bad, but it could have used a bit more flavor. I think adding some tomatoes or more dried shrimp would really elevate the dish. Prawn Tom Yum Fried Rice (5/5): This dish was a standout! The tom yum flavoring added a perfect balance of savory and sour that I've never tasted in fried rice before. The prawns were big and fresh, making each bite delightful. Chicken Panaeng Curry (4/5): The curry was rich, and it came with a bowl of rice as well which was nice! The meal fed my family of four very well and our server always came back to ensure that our food was up to standards. We will definitely be coming back to try more dishes!

Amazing service and the food was the bomb! What we ordered: APPETIZER: - crispy fried calamari: they were like mini calamari steaks with a jalapeño dipping sauce. The sauce was reminiscent of salsa verde. Not too hot and added some acidity to the dish. MAIN COURSE: - pad prik moo krob: roasted pork with veggies. I'd easily order this again. Jam packed with flavor and the pork was extra crispy! - pad kee mao: I am more partial to pad see ew, so I'd probably get that next time. But this was still fantastic but it was definitely spicy as they noted on the menu! Just a little too much heat for me. - Phad fuqthong: this was surprisingly my favorite dish we ate. It was a squash dish with eggs, mushroom, and garlic. We added prawns to this. The eggs in this dish were particularly excellent and fluffy. DESSERT: - mango sticky rice: you can never go wrong with this for dessert. A classic and so creamy and just the right amount of sweet. We also enjoyed some beer and cold sake based off of restaurant recommendations. If I ever find myself in the San Jose area and craving Thai food, I know where to go.

This place is pretty good! Their store is kind of small with some outdoor seating. Parking is a little troubling because of how compact it is, but there are many spots available to park at. It's located in a corner near a pizza place. The wait is long so I do recommend putting yourselves on the waitlist before arriving. Tom Yum(5/5): It comes in a small bowl assuming it's your own bowl. We shared it amongst our group as kind of like an appetizer. It was so good! The soup tasted tangy and had a nice balance of flavors within it! The amount of mushrooms in the soup was phenomenal as well! Calamari(5/5): A nice appetizer to eat before the main dish! It comes piping hot so I do recommend waiting a bit to cooldown, but if you're impatient just go for it! It has a crispy batter with a soft, tender texture of the calamari. The sauce that comes with it is spicy, but so delicious! I just wish there was a little bit more pieces. Pad See You(4/5): I always enjoy a good pad see you, but this one felt like it lacked vegetables and meat. Flavor wise, it was still good but I wish it came with more. I also felt like the portion didn't fit the price, but I still enjoyed the dish overall. Panaeng Curry(5/5): It had so much flavor and was very creamy! It contained a good amount of vegetables and was nicely balanced with seasonings! Mango Sticky Rice(5/5): We ended the night with dessert and I feel like this is a go to when eating Thai food! It was very delicious and the mango was sweet and juicy! The rice wasn't too sweet and the whole dish was perfect! I really like the coloring of the rice as it gives a nice artistic look to the dish! Service(5/5): Our server was friendly, nice, and accommodating! They checked up on us every now and then and our food came out pretty quickly. Overall, a place I would come to again to enjoy Thai food!

This is definitely one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. Although their portions are a bit smaller, it's still enough to fill you up, but no leftovers to take home! They don't take reservations, Yelp will allow you to add yourself to the waitlist if you're within 5 miles. I highly recommend their Tom Yum Fried Rice, we order it every time we come here! And I love their kabocha curry (can't confirm if it was a curry but it's really good too!). I also love starting off with a classic tom kha to get prepared to dive into all that yummy goodness!! Been here maybe 5 times now and will continue to return with more friends and family!

We came at 8p on a Sunday night. The Yelp wait list projected us to be seated in 10 minutes and yet again, we waited almost 40 minutes... Something that really bothers me is we were cut by two parties of 5, who got seated at the slightly bigger wooded tables to the right. The reasoning was those tables are reserved for people with parties of 4 or more (which makes sense), but then why were three 4 person tables used for couples?? The whole ordeal to get seated is always super frustrating but the food makes up for it. We tried a new appetizer today, some sort of Thai meatballs, which were super yummy and came with many pieces. The Tom yum fried rice had great flavor, and it was the perfect amount of sour. The panang curry was good, but doesn't come with rice. It was slightly watery though. I personally got the beef pad Thai, which was pretty small in portion size. The beef was also dry/over cooked, which was a bit of a bummer. Even though the portion sizes are small, the food is yummy, which always keeps me coming back!

A must try, very good flavours! Highly recommended the fish balls with tamarind sauce for the starters. The tom yum soup is fresh and on point, so is the rest of the food. Mango sticky rice is a must. Pleasant atmosphere and a great for a family outing or a date.

After an afternoon of training, my friend and I decided to try this place because it's a midpoint and it's got over 2k reviews. While I like the usual Pad Thai and Pad See Ew, I would like to try something else. After a quick scan of the menu, I noticed the happy hour section. We got 3 happy hour items. The summer roll came out first and was not bad. Standard peanut sauce to pair with it. My friend really wanted the tom yum soup. He lived in Thailand for a year when he was a teenager so he had a fondness for authentic Thai food. Unfortunately he gave a 1.5 out of 5 stars on the tom yum soup's authenticity. I don't really know, but it was tasty enough. Then the spicy mama came out. This dish seemed like a glorified instant noodle, but true to its name, it was spicy for me. I got burned and had to sip water several times. The luke chin todd sounded odd and was just little meatballs. The taste wasn't bad, but not good enough to order it again. When the food didn't seem like enough, we also ordered a roasted pork belly. I enjoy the flavor a lot, but the texture of the roast belly varied. Some were soft and some were really hard like it was from a different batch or another day. I appreciate having a Thai meal that's not the usual items, but some items are just average. I can't comment on authenticity, but I believe in my friend's taste. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. Yeah, I would probably go back and give it another chance since it's unique.
